I also agree on Coral Reef in Epcot having the best atmosphere!

I love the atmosphere at San Angel Inn, too, but we went there several years ago & the food was sub par so I can’t convince my hubby to go try it again

Great episode AJ and Brad! I have tried or will be trying (this year) a lot of the restaurants you talked about. Liberty Tree Tavern is one of my favorites. I also want to add my other favorite, The Hollywood Brown Derby where you feel like you are taken back to vintage Hollywood.

GG — Argh, of course! Coral Reef! Totally slipped my mind. Perfect addition, my friend! Great point about the lack of straight lines and how it’s a fitting atmosphere for the underwater restaurant (although it’s not at all “cartoony” or overdone).

Kris B — Thank you! Great idea on resort locations, but there are so few that are truly “themed” to the hilt! We’ll have to do some thinking…

Jon — Oh no; that makes me so sad to hear you had a bad time at LTT. I love that place! And I agree that the schtick has been dialed back at 50’s — same at Whispering Canyon I think (at least for lunch).

Brad’s experience with 1900 Park Fare sounds very similar to my family’s dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Long wait, slow service, mediocre food, and did I say slow service! On the plus side, the characters were great (back when it had characters). I like the food at 50’s Prime Time, but unfortunately the schtick was dialed back a few notches. Our server was chastised by an elderly lady who did not take kindly to the “scolding.” Here I was hoping that the server would chide my kids for not eating their veggies – oh well, maybe next time. I’ll have to do Cindy’s Table on the next trip to the World. Another great show AJ! Look forward to future episodes.

Loved your episode 4 podcast! It was a great reader question to cover in depth….I really enjoyed your take on these theme park restaurants. I actually would love to hear your opinions in the same general theme, but just with resort locations. Such as my favorite, California Grill!!

AJ, you took my favorite atmosphere place in Epcot! Looks like I’ll have to give my second favorite. At the Coral Reef the large aquarium tank IS the atmosphere, but that’s all it needs. The seating is tiered so that you can see in the tank from wherever you are. It is a very calm place to have a dinner or lunch on a busy day in the park. The room is a little dark and mostly soothing blues and browns. There are few straight lines. Often that can be messy, but at The Coral Reef it complements the water feeling and doesn’t seem cluttered.
